Joanne your comment on what the manageress did is horrific. Dont give up, you need to contact the owner of that business and let him know exactly what that woman did. My god how can that place still be running...

I must admit I do shop at Healthy Pulses, Sidwell Street, occasionally but have to agree with comments regarding the staff. I know two young ladies have left due to upset with the manageress and it is eye opening when staff is affected. The two young ladies that remain there now always appear happier when the manageress is not present. There is an unpleasant and quiet atmosphere in Healthy Pulses that you wont find in Holland and Barrett. I would prefer to shop at Holland and Barrett were it closer to me. It is much nicer to shop in an environment where staff are happy to be there.

I can only but agree to K.M's review. The only thing I will add is that the manageress of this store sold me TWO products when I was two months pregnant. The products were bottles of Dong Quai tablets and another bottle of Black Cohosh. I specifically told her I was expecting and exactly how far along in my pregnancy I was. She absolutely assured me this was fine to take and even suggested I UP the dose of Black Cohosh... only for me to consult anothr health professional who was horrified and explained that Dong Quai can promote menstruation/miscarriage while Black Cohosh can also increase chances of miscarriage. As you can imagine, I am outraged at the manageress of Healthy Pulses, Exeter and if the owner of the business had taken my call instead of (as K.M has already stated) being "conveniently absent", I would have voice my outrage. I now stick to Healthfoods Unlimited on Exe Bridges.

Dreadful management and poor quality take-away chiller filled with "fresh" vegan/veggie bake goods. Having visited on three occasions to inspect health and hygiene, I have observed the manageress place food crates on shop floor and serve with unclean hands. Staff are generally pleasant, but with no genuine passion in the workplace. The manageress not once served with a smile and alongside the over-pricing, the smoking on the premises is - for a health food store - appalling. Try as you might to contact the owner, either in Exeter or Plymouth, he is constantly and conveniently absent. Stick to Holland & Barrett in future.
