EXETER,
We had a two week holiday to Lanzarote in June and were flying from Exeter. We live in Southampton so the distance wasn't too bad and the holiday was cheap so why not! I have to say Exeter was one of the easiest airports and we would definitely fly from there again. We booked our airport parking on line in advance and paid £60 for 2 weeks of parking in car park 3. When we left the car there we were a bit worried because security isn't that great but the car was in once piece when we came back. We arrived at 4.45am for a 7.15am flight. The airport was completely dead, we went straight to the check in desk and booked in straight away. The check in staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. There was do delays at all and we were very happy with check in. We went through to departures to find out the restaurant and shops didn't open until 6am so we had a bit of thumb twiddling to do. The airports facilities consist of the main restaurant, a coffee bar, a shop and toilets. The toilets were very clean and plenty of them to deal with the rush. Once the restaurant opened we decided to go for a full English. Which was rather expensive and a bit of a let down. The sausages were really cheap and didn't taste very nice at all. You had to pay extra for toast and the beans were really cold. Since Birmingham and others offer a wetherspoons which has fantastic breakfasts and much cheaper it was a bit annoying. We will know next time not to eat there! Once our flight was called there was a bit of a faff and delay with getting us on the plane, and my partner suddenly felt very ill! He dashed to the toilet and vomited! I can only put this down to the breakfast we had since he hadn't eaten for about 10 hours before that! Luckily he got it out of his system very quickly and we boarded the plane last in the queue. The staff at the boarding gate didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing, which was a shame and seemed to let the whole airport down. All in all we liked the fast check in and easy parking at Exeter and would definitely fly from there again. But since there was about 6 early morning flights all leaving at the same time i don't think the staff could deal with it and it did make them look a little unprofessional! I cant blame the food on the airport because it was outside caterers but i did write a letter of complaint to them.. I didn't hear anything back however!
