I went to the Cat In The Hat a few saturdays ago with my girlfriend & my parents, its been some where I have been wanting to go for a pretty long time, because I know a few people that have been there before & are always raving about it, it was fairly busy to begin with, we ordered between us, the scallops, pigeon, ham terrine & the goats cheese; then me & dad had the fillet steak, mother had the seabass & my girlfriend had the duck, then we went all out & had the sweets which included coffee creme brulie, orange parfait & hot chocolate fondant which was yum & lived up to its reputation, the old man had the cheese board! & over all had a laugh & a really wonderful night the service was friendly & pretty quick which was a shame because we could of stayed there all night! couldn't fault the food, thumbs up & we will definately be back!
We have been consistently pleased by the quality of food and the friendly service at this restaurant. We have taken guests there and they have shared our delight. It is a place to relax.
This is one of the hidden treasures of Exeter if you are looking for a unique dining experience outside of the city centre. The food is consistently outstanding and the fixed price menu is superb value for money. I have recommended it to many of my friends and colleagues. The atmosphere is relaxed- I am been there as part of a couple as well as with my eight year old and have always been made to feel very welcome.
Very good restaurant in the fairly upmarket district of St Leonards, Exeter. The Cat in the Hat is certainly on the small side, but the owners have created a warm and friendly restaurant serving excellent food. The chef seems genuinely interested in what his customers think of his creations, which are sourced locally wherever possible. The food is British/ European and the service is very good. The only drawback is that there is not much else in the vicinity, apart from the Mount Radford pub. Cat in the Hat Tel: 01392 211700. website cathat.co.uk
