• Good food

  Having moved to north Devon 6 years ago from the outer London area with a great selection of Indian restaurants, I would say the Spice is far the best in Bideford. Good Indian food and a good selection of Indian beers. I have not had a takeaway yet, but will soon.

• Excellent!

  Having seen one good and one bad review for this restaurant my colleague and I decided to see for ourselves! The staff were all extremelly courteous and eager to please, the restaurant is very attractive with a gallery area and was lovely and warm. The food we ordered was excellent, we ordered King Prawn and Chicken Madrass with Garlic Naans, Sagalou and Pillau rice, all perfectly cooked. The meat was tender and the accompanying vegetables fresh and crisp. Presentation was also excellent. I would strongly advise you to ignore the negative review on this site, and like us, go along and enjoy their wonderful food!! You won't regret it!

• Avoid

  Having orderded a carry out meal here in July 2008, I have to say this is my far the worst Indian meal I have ever had. (trust me I have had alot!!). No person in our group of holiday makers had anything positive to say regarding the food. The chicken was extremely tough, The vegetable Pakora would appear to have been re-cooked as it almost broke my teeth. The sauce which I ordered was gritty and unedible. It is also quite expensive. I will not be revisiting. Pity, because it is a nice resturaunt in a nice town.
