Newly renamed and refurbished, the Black River Inn; formerly the Torridge Inn, is situated one mile off the main A3072 road between Hatherleigh and Holsworthy. A warm welcome in a comfortable and relaxed bar, with a separate dining area available for more private dining and functions. A large beer garden offering almost all day sun. A car park. We welcome families, dogs and all! We serve a variety of items on our various food menus; ensuring there is something for everyone. Combine this with the extensive drink selection offered behind the bar, you have little excuse.
From the A3072, take the signposted turning almost 1/2 way between Hatherleigh and Holsworthy, and follow this road into the village. As the road starts to go downhill, past the surgery. we are on the right.

We have a relaxed, welcoming bar area where you an enjoy a meal, or a drink from our extensive range. With pints starting at £3.40 and a glass of wine from £3.50.
Our separate dining area offers a more formal dining experience, whilst still being relaxed. The menu in both the bar and restaurant areas are the same, one area is dog friendly, the other is not.
Visited yesterday for Sunday lunch while staying nearby. After an incredibly hot walk there, we were met by friendly faces. We had a 2 course roast, it was delicious. After eating, we sat in the bar, and waited for the sun to cool a bit and hoped for more shade on the return walk (..and waited for me to be able to move..I was so full!) Amazing value for money. Would happily return in a heartbeat! Wish our local was like this!
We visited The Black River Inn not once but twice during our recent stay at a local campsite. It is a fantastic local pub serving very reasonably priced drinks that you can enjoy in the comfy bar area or in the lovely garden (whilst the lovely weather lasts of course). The food is sublime. On a Sunday I highly recommend the roast board for 2. Add to this friendly staff and locals and you have all the makings of a great pub. Can't wait to return next year.
